Youtube jumping on the NFT Cringe
Again with YouTube. At first, YouTube removed the count of dislikes on a video. Only the creator could see how many dislikes their video got, while the public saw only the positive reviews. Of course, some genius coders invented a way to bypass this. So now YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki announced yesterday that they're officially getting rid of the dislike button indefinitely. They keep saying that this is to protect Viewers and Creator’s, but this obviously a move to protect its corporate partners and political affiliates. A perfect example of this is Disney’s latest Star Wars hotel debacle and of course President Joe Biden’s approval ratings. As of recently, YouTube started demonetizing or removing anyone who has an opinion on climate change yet surprisingly still has plenty of flat earth theory videos.
So what other cringy thing can YouTube do for 2022? Well, the most cringe's thing you can think of. YouTube has now revealed that they are going to be doing NFTs off some of their most viral video clips. Shocking that another company jumping on the NFT bandwagon. Not too long before the YouTube announcement, Twitter made a similar statement, saying users can now link their NFT to their profile picture.
It’s clear that NFTs aren’t going anywhere and will be a part of the new web3 economy that is coming. Although, the value of these things might be inflated because of so many corporations jumping on the NFT wave. Someone on Twitter compared NFTs to future Beanie Babies, and if we are not careful it might.
